Halong Bay Among World's Most Beautiful Destinations 2026
The Canadian magazine The Travel voted Halong Bay - the UNESCO World Heritage Site in northern Vietnam one of 10 of 2026's most beautiful tourist destinations around the world.

The list features a diverse range of breathtaking destinations around the globe. "From towering cliffs to stunningly blue glacial lakes and charming villages to mesmerizingly beautiful temples, the world is a truly spectacular place," the magazine remarked.
Halong Bay secured the 5th position on the list and is one of only two representatives from Southeast Asia, alongside the Angkor Wat temple complex in Cambodia.
Situated in Quang Ninh Province in northeastern Vietnam, Halong Bay is a renowned UNESCO World Heritage site. According to The Travel, Halong Bay consists of a dense scattering of over 1,600 limestone karsts and islands draped with tropical greenery, and a vast majority of these sites remain uninhabited and pristine. There are numerous ways to explore Halong Bay; the most favored option is to embark on a cruise through the magnificent, mist-shrouded seascape. Some of the must-visit sites include Thien Cung Cave and Surprise Cave, both offering panoramic views of jade-green waters.
Other notable destinations on the list include Banff National Park (Canada), Bora Bora (French Polynesia), Patagonia (Chile), Salar de Uyuni (Bolivia), Santorini (Greece), Yellowstone National Park (USA), and Venice (Italy). Zhangjiajie National Forest in China topped the list, famous for inspiring the movie Avatar with its stunning sandstone pillars.
